Brown Act Legislative Briefing: April 30, 2025
For the past several years, CALCOG has championed greater flexibility under the Brown Act to better reflect the operational needs of regional organizations. This year, three key bills are moving through the Legislature that have the potential to meaningfully impact how our member agencies conduct public meetings.
Join us on Wednesday, April 30 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM for a Brown Act Legislative Briefing Call hosted by CALCOG and our partners at Townsend Public Affairs. We’ll provide an overview of the pending legislation, unpack what it could mean for your agency, provide regional perspectives and share the latest intel from inside the Capitol on how these proposals are shaping up. We hope see you there!
Regional Perspectives on Economic Forecasting Tools: Jan. 28, 2025
Regional Government makes transportation investments to achieve a number of goals for the public good including the economic and environmental health of the communities they serve. Their Regional Plans, that allocate this funding, need to consider the links between near-term and long-term trends in demographics, housing and jobs so they can promote inclusivity and balance effective and efficient movement of people and freight with other community and state goals. In order to accomplish this complex task, regions large and small are using economic models to inform the development of their long-range regional transportation plans.
As part of CALCOG’s mission to share best practices and tools with our members, we are hosting a FREE webinar on January 28 at 11:00 AM on how tools like REMI can help conduct regional-level economic analyses. Topics include the adaptability of economic models across diverse regions, and practical uses including Benefit-Cost Analysis, Forecasting Regional Growth, and RTP Scenario Development. Panelists will answer questions about the tool and share the experiences of their agencies in using these tools. We hope you can join us!
