What We Do

CALCOG works to advance the role of regional government agencies in California by fostering collaboration, information sharing, and policy alignment. We support our members by facilitating intergovernmental communication, advocating for regional priorities in state and federal policy, and ensuring that transportation, housing, and climate policies are effectively implemented at the regional level.

Our Members

We 51 regional government agencies, including Councils of Governments (COGs), Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), Regional Transportation Planning Agencies (RTPAs), and County Transportation Commissions (CTCs). Beyond their role as planning agencies, many of our members are self-help counties, transit operators, and funding administrators, directly managing transportation investments, housing programs, and climate initiatives. They are responsible for critical functions such as regional transportation planning, infrastructure funding, project delivery, housing coordination, and climate resilience. We also work closely with state agencies to facilitate collaboration, streamline processes, and advocate for effective policies that support regional solutions across California.
